The singles draws for the 2024 Cincinnati Open were released Saturday afternoon, with the World No. 1s – Iga Swiatek and Jannik Sinner – assuming the positions as top seeds.
Defending champion Coco Gauff is the second seed and is one of five US players in the women’s draw. Americans will have some momentum coming into Cincinnati after three reached this week’s semifinals in Canada.
Swiatek, the bronze winner, is one of the Olympic medalists in the field, joined by No. 7 seed Zheng Qinwen who won gold, and silver medalist Donna Vekic, who is seeded 16th.
Cincinnati’s Peyton Stearns is a wild card entrant and will open against Spain’s Paula Badosa.
While Sinner leads the top half of the men’s draw, 2023 Cincinnati Open runner-up Carlos Alcaraz is the second seed, and awaits the winner of an opening around clash between Gael Monfils and Alexei Popyrin.
Matteo Berrettini has won three titles this season, including two consecutively, and carries a 10-match winning streak into his opening round contest against No. 15 seed Holger Rune.
Two all-American battles are set for the first round, with No. 11 Taylor Fritz facing Brandon Nakashima and No. 12 Ben Shelton taking on Reilly Opelka.
ATP main draw play begins Monday, while the WTA first round begins Tuesday.
Qualifying for both tours will begin Sunday.
