The Western & Southern Open announced today that GreenSet, the world’s leading manufacturer of fast court surfaces for professional and amateur tennis, will be the official tennis court construction sponsor of this year’s tournament that runs from Aug. 12-20.

GreenSet is currently repairing and resurfacing the 17 match and practice courts at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio, home of the ATP Masters 1000 and WTA 1000 event. The hard court surface is called the GreenSet Grand Prix. GreenSet both manufactures and applies the surface, unique in the industry.

The company has prepared courts at professional tennis events around the world including the Australian Open, Davis Cup, ATP Finals and Next Gen ATP Finals. GreenSet has earned the most advanced International Tennis Federation certificates for its surfaces.

Javier Sanchez Vicario, GreenSet CEO and Chief Surface Engineer, is a former Top 25 player who reached the quarterfinals at three of the four Grand Slam tournaments and whose brother, Emilio, reached the Western & Southern Open quarterfinals in 1986. Their sister, Arantxa, is a former world No. 1.

GreenSet has joined the Zero Carbon Footprint Challenge in collaboration with CO2 Revolution. To minimize its carbon footprint at each tournament, GreenSet will participate in a project aimed toward carbon neutrality through reforestation to improve the planet’s health.

The Western & Southern Open is one of only five premier events globally to host an ATP Masters 1000 and WTA 1000 tournament in the same week at the same venue, joining Madrid, Miami, Rome and Indian Wells, California.

Since becoming a single-week tournament in 2011, the Western & Southern Open has hosted nearly 2 million spectators, including ticket buyers who have traveled to Cincinnati from all 50 states and 40 different countries. Tickets may be purchased online here and Ticketmaster.com.
