Qualifying will lead off the Western & Southern Open action, with first ball scheduled
for 10 a.m. Saturday and 30 matches on the schedule The WTA action will include Vera Zvonareva, the 2006 Western & Southern Open champion, taking on 22-year-old American Alycia Parks. The 2008 Ohio high school state champion, Lauren Davis, will face fellow American Ann Li, and 2021 NCAA champion Emma Navarro from the University of Virginia will take on former US Open finalist Leylah Fernandez.

ATP qualifying play will also include a former NCAA champion with 2014 winner
Marcos Giron from UCLA battling Argentina’s Diego Schwartzman. Australian
Alexei Popyrin will return to action after winning his first career ATP title last
Sunday in Umag, Croatia, when he plays Ilya Ivashka, and Brandon Holt, the son
of former No. 1 Tracy Austin, will play French teenager Arthur Fils.

Saturday’s winners will return for the second round of qualifying on Sunday with a
spot in the main draw on the line.

A historic run began in qualifying last year. Caroline Garcia advanced from the
opening week and into the main draw where she won six more matches to become
the first player in tournament history to win the title as a qualifier.
Current World No. 1 and our top seed, Carlos Alcaraz, was playing in qualifying
here just two years ago.

In addition to qualifying play Saturday, Kids Day presented by Cincinnati Children’s
Hospital Medical Center will be held. Open to all kids and their families, the event
will include on-court challenges, including drills and games, while away from the
court there will be balloon artists, face painting, autograph sessions and more.
