2024 Cincinnati Open By the Numbers

Aug 29, 2024

The Cincinnati Open celebrated our 125th birthday with 205,068 of our closest friends. The record attendance came as 13 of 16 sessions were sellouts with attendees traveling from all 50 states and 46 countries. Over 70% of ticket buyers came from outside the area, and 46% were attending for the first time.

Those are just some of the numbers coming from this year’s tournament.

The inaugural Community Day welcomed 7,002 spectators while raising nearly $200,000 for local charities.

Those players had 1,875 rackets strung through the event, with Paula Badosa getting the most restrings with 50

There were 3,942 tennis balls used during the 206 matches, which were made up of 486 sets, 4,676 games and 102 tiebreaks. 20,781 total minutes of tennis were played; inlcuding 86 three-set matches, 1,854 aces and 1,646 double faults.

In the Cincinnati Open Shop, 5,000 tournament towels and 3,500 jumbo autograph tennis balls were purchased. There were more than 200 different headwear options to choose from, and more than 15,000 hats were sold. Keeping the vibes high were the 76 unique musical acts, providing 129 hours of live music and entertainment throughout the tournament.

Tennis fans love tequila, as evidenced by the 22,737 Dobel Tequila Ace Palomas drank throughout the week. The tournament’s co-branded beer with Sonder Brewing, Causing a Racket, was sipped over 3,000 times and those who live the high life drank over 2,000 glasses of Moet Champagne and 11,424 glasses of La Crema wine.

To keep running, media members consumed 756 cups of media center coffee throughout the week. Also of note, Bru Brothers dished out 395 double-shot espressos… is everyone okay?

It’s not Cincinnati without a little Skyline, and by a little, we mean the 6,457 cheese coneys that were consumed during the week. Another Cincinnati favorite, Graeter’s dished out 27,992 scoops of their delectable ice cream with the majority of folks favoring the dish over the cone. The people also love a good pretzel: 14,235 pretzel sticks were eaten during #CincyTennis 2024.

The Volunteers

One of the backbones of the Cincinnati Open is the incredible team of volunteers. This year, 1,503 volunteers took to the Lindner Family Tennis Center to give their time and energy to the tournament. They flocked from 35 different states and 6 countries (US, Canada, England, Ecuador, France and Guatemala). Collectively, they dedicated 69,640 hours to the tournament and represent a combined 9,208 years of service to #CincyTennis. Mic drop.

We know you were wanting even more numbers, so here you go: Save the date for the 2025 Cincinnati Open from August 5-18, 2025 when the player field increases from 56 to 96, 10 additional tennis courts are installed, a new, 56,000 square foot player building is built and more.
