Borna Coric, ranked No. 152, became the lowest-ranked winner in Cincinnati history (since the start of ATP Rankings in 1973) by defeating world No. 7 and fourth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas 7-6(0), 6-2. Coric is the fourth first-time ATP Masters 1000 champion this year. With the title Coric will rise 123 spots to No. 29 on the ATP Live Rankings.
Coric defeated three Top 10 players this week – No. 3 Nadal, No. 7 Tsitsipas and No. 9 Auger-Aliassime – en route to the Western & Southern Open title.
Congratulations Borna!
